Wow, where did the year go? I guess it's time to reminisce...what was the BEST thing you ate over the course of 2018 in the Boston area?
For me, it was back in March:
RAZOR CLAM ESCABECHE at MOODY'S THE BACKROOM (Waltham MA)
This has to be one of the best dishes I've ever had at The Backroom (and I've had a lot). Chewy spicy pickled razor clams, onions, garlic on sliced baguette, with I think some bacon bits too for a lovely smokey-umami flavor.
Runner up was a cheese and charcuterie plate last month (coincidently, also at The Backroom!) that paired an aged gouda with house-made sweet red bell pepper pickles. One of those mythical "synergistic" food pairings where the combination was unexpectedly just soooo much better than either alone.
