Hello! I usually read and post in the NYC site but am going to be visiting New Orleans over Memorial day weekend with my best friend. She's getting married in July and this is our last "girlie" trip together. We both love good local food, and would love to hear some recommendations. It's the first time visiting New Orleans for the both of us. We don't have any dietary restrictions and we are going to be staying at the W New Orleans. I've heard many names of restaurants that are MUSTs but I dont' want to overwhelm ourselves by gorging our faces at each meal (she still has to fit into her wedding dress afterall!). What I feel is most important is that we try each of the following at least once
- Jazz Brunch
- Crawfish boil (we both never had this before and are very excited!)
- Oyster Po Boy
- 1 or 2 nice dinners featuring the best cuisine New Orleans has to offer
- Beignets for breakfast
- Cafe for a nice snack and cup of coffee
- A nice, fun bar or lounge
What are your recommendations for the above? I have seen many recs on this board, but if you were to pick only one of each, what would be your pick?
Thank you so much. Also, what areas of New Orleans are safer than others, and where should we avoid? Thank you in advance!!!
