I will be in San Francisco for the first time in my life for 2 nights the first week in March. Given only 2 days, what are the most important places to eat?
As a rather provincial New Yorker, this kind of question used to drive me crazy -- how can you expect to do it justice in only 2 nights, if someone really wants the experience they should live here, etc. But I have become much more empathic in my old age, and besides, now the shoe is on the other foot.
What I am looking for is are eating experiences not readily available in NY. If an out-of-towner were coming here, I would probably bring them (and have in fact brought many) to Sripraphai, the Thai restaurant and center of the universe in Queens. After that, there are many possibilities perhaps something Bukharian orYemenite Jewish, Cornel's Romanian, or maybe a deli, mostly to illustrate how delis have all but disappeared and those that remain aren't so great....
You get the picture any suggestions?
