After a 3-day conference in Toronto, I'll be flying to Quebec on 22.Sep for food, cultural submersion and sightseeing (in that order). My preferred large' meal of the day, with or without ETOH, is lunch. I've done my homework' via the search feature but am seeking recommendations for lunch places upscale, hole-in-the-wall, creperie, poutinerie, anything in between it matters not, following the Chowhound credo. Specifically looking for indigenous foods and classics such as authentic Croque Monsieur/Madame, pan bagnat, salad Nicoise, roasted marrowbones (os), confit de canard, moules frites, steak frites, steak tartare, Quebecois foie gras, baguettes, pastries, cheeses, table d'hôte or prix fixe, etc. As Flavourguy at montreal.com puts it, "Community creates culture. Counter cultures create lunch."
Also any suggestions re: lodging within the walls' would be appreciated; specifically looking for reasonably-priced accommodations with a kitchenette and WC en suite. Plus any unusual/quirky attractions, venues, events, tours, etc. not covered by Tourisme Quebec or CAA.
Thanks in advance......Enjoy.
