Visiting from San Francisco, I had high hopes for breakfast at 1886 at the Eau Claire Market in Calgary. Unfortunately, the service prevented us from ordering, let alone sampling the food. The host refused to ackowledge our presence and then then motioned us over to a table, sans menus. We got our own menus, but sat and sat, without anyone bothering to ask us about ordering. It was not that busy, but after requesting a server twice and waiting 20 minutes, we gave up. We then had a delightful brunch at the River Cafe.
The food might be outstanding at 1869, but I will never return.
