So I just had dinner here for the first time recently, and although I tried my best to make sure Masa was working that night, I actually got served by another chef. I didn't expect not to be served by by him after all the questions on the phone. I decided not to make a scene and just go along with it and honestly had a great Omakase.
Here on CH, there's just so much comments about how 15E is nothing without Masa, but I had an amazing meal, so I'm wondering if I am missing the ability to tell what is good, or that 15E sans Masa is not as bad as people are saying? Or did I get punked with over saucing to fool me into thinking that was a burst of umami? I personally have not had it with Masa yet, so I won't know, but I have tried other Omakase and I do think that 15E's sushi had a bit more flavor in it.
So has anyone tried 15E recently both with and not with Masa? What are your comments?
I was served by chef Hugo btw while Masa served 6 people on the other side. Those lucky rapscallions.
