14 West Cafe

Matt | May 30, 2006 03:48 PM

My wife and I ventured to the *relatively* new 14 West Cafe in the space of what used to be Soo's Kim Chee. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality and presentation of the food. My wife had the $14 herb crusted Tilapia with wilted spinach, it came with fantastic garlic & herb mashed potatoes, instead of the promised risotto. I had a seared salmon ($15) with leeks, on the same bed of potatoes with wonderful fresh asparagus with a orange/ginger sauce.

They don't take credit cards, or serve alcohol so bring your wallet. All in all a wonderful funky and delicious restaurant. The menu is mostly fish, vegetarian and one vegan option. There have a few salads and some really tasty looking appetizers that we didn't try. This is a great nice casual restaurant in Mt. Vernon.
