116th St Tacos

Mark M | Oct 13, 2004 09:02 AM

I always seem to gravitate towards the tacos
at the taqueria on the south side of 116th between 2nd and 3rd, next door to the Mexican hair salon (Axtec?). They now have a hand written sign that says something like "Taco-World" but Ive never managed to get their name down. Anyway, I'm most satisfied with their Al Pastors which have crispy little chunks of pork that when doused with juices burst with flavor upon every bite. Their Cecina is also meaty and flavorful but a bit dry. By the way, what cut is Cecina?

So that brings me to my point - My taco eating in Spanish Harlem is one-dimensional. I'm feeling creatively stifled. So, anyone have a go-to taco spot that humbles my little spot-with-the-name-I-can't-remember?
