Our 10th anniversary is coming up and we'd like to go somewhere really delicious and special. For various and sundry reasons, we'd like it to be quite close to home (Rye Brook). We like wonderful food, but are happier when the restaurant isn't too formal. (If it helps, in the city, we often go to Union Square Cafe for special occasions and we enjoyed Buffet de la Gare in Hastings for a birthday dinner this spring, but that's a bit too far to travel this time.) Because of geography, BH at SB will have to wait til another time. Anyway, I looked through Zagat's (gotta start somewhere) and, based primarily on food ratings, came up with a potential slate of Alta, Jean-Louis, L'Escale, Rebecca's and Thomas Henkelmann (all in Greenwich), La Panetiere in Rye and Equus in Tarrytown. So, is the food all it's cracked up to be at these places? How do they rate on the dressy casual/comfortable vs. more formal scale? Any other suggestions? Thanks.
