100 short reviews, Canton, Cesario's Elisabeth Daniel

Paul H | May 25, 200301:05 PM

Canton - Cantonese outpost in SoMa serving reasonably priced dim sum and seafood classics. The room is large with simple decoration. Menu is authentic with little Americanization. Not worth a special trip but it is a good place for South Beach residents and local office workers to get good value Chinese food without having to hoof it over to Chinatown. No recommendation.

Cesario's - A café located in the heart of tourist territory with a large continental menu; this is the kind of place that stays in business by serving a continual stream of people who eat there once and never return. Food is very mediocre, I hope the tourists either don't know enough to care or don't hold it against San Francisco. Not recommended.

Elisabeth Daniel - I dined at the 2001 version of Elisabeth Daniel, with a severe but elegant grey decor and one menu choice - the tasting menu. The food was excellent - as was the service, but neither the food nor service were outstanding enough to be really memorable, nor did I think they were worth the $450 tab for three. The restaurant has since been redecorated and has added an ala Carte menu. No recommendation.
