I have had so many bad experiences with Mexican food in the U.S. that i always start by asking for tiny tastes of the moles and sauces that interest me. Can't tell you how delighted I was to taste a REALLY great mole here. Not harsh or bitter, but smooth and very complex and unctuous! We had this delicious mole on the Mushroom and artichoke enchiladas but the filling was disappointingly short on artichokes, so next time i'll get it on the pollo....-
Completely unexpected perfection was also experienced with the Yucatan sauce on the daily fish- mahi (which was so fresh, and perfectly cooked).
Also excellent: the table salsa verde and the amazing one-of-a-kind house-made citrus chile salad dressing.
Chile verde was super tasting and super HOT. Chile relleno was great, full of melted cheese, batter dipped and fried and topped with tomato sauce. Corn chowder was well textured and complex but I added cilantro and lime juice to get the punch it needed.
Sangria was not fizzy or overly sweet ; very good though a bit watered down.
Rice and black beans were disappointingly mediocre and not worth eating. Maybe the refried are better.... So we used the chips for our starch.
Portions were very large. and prices reasonable. we'll go back for sure.
