We had our last $100 from our registry to spend at sur la table and nothing was jumping out at me until I realized that some of their mauviel is on sale. it would be great to keep the extra cost (over $100) as low as possible. I'm trying to think through which of the possibilities would be most useful in our kitchen.
We have an all clad d5 1.5qt saucepan (next larger size we have is 4qt soup pot) that we use a lot, to the point that I kinda want a similar, and maybe slightly larger saucepan, but we don't have the money to buy a decent one (til now?). I often fry one egg in a d5 9" french skillet. I caramelize sugar sometimes for ice cream recipes. I have seen chowhounders noting that at least 2mm copper is needed to be worthwhile . . .
Pros/cons or Which mauviel makes the most sense?:
- paying $0 extra for 1.5mm copper, 8.6in fry pan CI handle
- paying $74 extra for 1.5mm copper, 1.9 qt saucepan w lid, SS-lined and CI handle
-paying $72 extra for 2.4 qt m'passion sugar pan (or paying less than that for smaller sized sugar pan)
- paying $145 extra for 2.5mm copper splayed saucepan 1.9qt w CI handle (& I think no lid)
- if you think none of those ideas are good, feel free to offer some other suggestion of something to buy now from SLT that we probably need more (might as well use the credit before we lose it and while we have our registry completion discount)
