I have lived in the Chicago Western Suburbs my entire life (no pity necessary, thanks). Recently, I visited an Indian restaurant (Sabri Nehari--excellent) at 800 E. Roosevelt in Lombard (by Whirlyball).
Anyway, I'm pretty sure that the same (very large) building housed a novelty restaurant in the early 80s. My memories say that it had a big pipe organ, and that the organist's specialty was an elaborate version of Star Wars (maybe it was in the late 70s). I think the waitresses went around on roller skates (?). I also think that an artist made caricatures of people for $10. In fact, I think I still have one somewhere!
I asked my parents what the name of the restaurant was and they looked at me like I was high on crack. But I am quite certain that my family had dinner there more than once. Can anyone help?
