The debut of Diet Coke in 1982 was the first extension of the Coke trademark, and brought a crosshatch of slanted lines to the cans to boot (also seen on the early gold-tone caffeine-free cans). That design, of course, has changed a lot over the years, and Diet Coke actually just got a new makeover this year. The original also paved the way for Coke Zero, which, in case you missed it, became Coke Zero Sugar in 2017.
