While not introduced at the Columbian Exposition, Milton Hershey, then a caramel manufacturer, did attend the 1893 fair, where he saw a complete chocolate-making apparatus that so enchanted him, he purchased the entire works, and shortly began producing his own chocolate. S'mores lovers and generations of trick-or-treaters should be very happy he visited Chicago 120-odd years ago.
