German Chocolate Cake proved so popular—several sources say sales increased by 73% in 1957, concurrent with the printing and reprinting of the Dallas recipe—that Baker's began printing the recipe on the inside of the German's Sweet Chocolate box. It's undergone slight changes (see the mention of a microwave on this more modern box flap), but some say the current version, which skips the beaten egg whites step, is not as good. The front of the package has long featured some form of the dessert as well, but the original cake slice has been replaced by a German chocolate cupcake.
