Acitrón Mexican Bistro opened last spring in Arlington, and Boston hounds say it’s your passport to authentic south-of-the-border fine dining.
“It’s definitely not your typical Mexican ‘taco’ place,” says rcastanon. “It’s food I’d expect to find in an upscale Mexican restaurant in Mexico City.”
Familiar dishes are prepared with verve. Eatin in Woostah recommends the chicken with mole verde, which is taken up a notch because it is stuffed with huitlacoche (a corn truffle that’s a delicacy in Mexico). ArlHound recommends the gazpacho, the coastal-style ceviche, and the salmon entrée, which is served with a chile piquin sauce. Other hound favorites: the corn on the cob with Cotija cheese (similar to the version at Toro) and the tres leches cake for dessert. Given the restaurant’s solid menu, Eatin in Woostah concludes that Acitrón is an “excellent addition to Arlington.”
