“Imagine a smooth, white sausage cut into chunks, drowned in ketchup, with a shake of curry powder on top.” If that description, penned by CHOW friend Francis Lam on Gourmet.com, sounds appealing to you, hie thee to Currywurst Bros. on Bleecker Street, which Chowhound TMW reports is open! TMW says: “My currywurst/fries and roll was extremely similar to what I had in London at a joint near Embankment Tube called Herman The German.” Embankment Tube? Herman the German?! Is this a good thing?

“I chose the mildest curry powder to be sprinkled over the flavorful tomato sauce along with beef bratwurst. The roll was great for dipping in the curry sauce. … It’s a tad more expensive than I’d like ($11.50 total for currywurst/fries/roll and a can of soda) but once every few weeks shouldn’t break the bank.” For Bleecker Street, that actually doesn’t sound like a terrible deal. Is anyone else going to brave this concoction? Do report back on the thread!
