Grom Gelateria, a local branch of an Italian chain, has the most delicious gelato and sorbet that fdb has tasted outside of Italy. “The quality of the ingredients, mostly grown on their own farm in Italy, are top-notch. They even have their own bee hives!”
For the high, but worthwhile, price of $5.25 for a small cup: gelato perfection. fdb has been dreaming of the pistachio, made from Syrian pistachios, and the crema pasticcera al torrone di nocciole—custard with organic egg cream and Piedmont hazelnut nougat chips. “I am seriously thinking of making a special trip out there this weekend with a cooler to bring some back!” says fdb.
Others recommend salted caramel, tart yogurt, and, in the summers, the melon.
Grom has shops across Italy and in France and Japan, all with the same great fresh, natural flavors, says wienermobile. There are three stores in New York, and the chain is currently planning on slowly invading Los Angeles. We submit.
