After calling together hounds in San Francisco, Melanie Wong launched the write-up of a lunch chowdown at Juhu Beach Club, a month-old pop-up lunch restaurant helmed by Top Chef alum Preeti Mistry.

The overwhelming favorite was the Holy Slow Braised Cow sandwich, of which Peter Yee said, “Were I not supposed to be dieting, I would have ordered one to go!”

alanbarnes admired the “in-your-face spice” of the vegetables that make up the Sloppy Lil’ P, a take on pav bhaji that didn’t have the typical (and delicious) butter overload Melanie expected from that dish. All agreed that the mango lassi was less thick and sweet than usual dessertlike beverages served ’round these parts.
