The new Thai-Asian fusion restaurant Sala in Hercules is in the historic Civic Arts building, and boasts a gorgeous deck (with heaters!) overlooking the bay, says adrienne156. Cocktails include exotic specialties like the Siam Sunray (Hanger One kaffir lime vodka, Coruba coconut rum, lime juice, chile) and a variety of Mojitos and martinis. Passion fruit Mojito is “dangerously delicious,” adrienne156 says. There are a handful of beers and sakes, too.

Roasted baby back ribs, a special, are fab: “No point in trying to cut them, fall off the bone, porky goodness with delicious roasty, caramely bits.” Another special, Thai-style barbecue chicken (gai yang), is nicely grilled and juicy. Both come with rice (jasmine or basmati pilaf) and veggies.
