CHOW Tour Austin: The Next Generation of Austin Cuisine

Austin’s creative spirit is really evident when you meet chefs like Tyson Cole who are pushing the perception of the city’s cuisine way beyond the barbecue and Tex-Mex stereotypes. Cole chats with us about how he ended up opening the upscale sushi restaurants Uchi and Uchiko in Texas. We also visit two relative newcomers to the scene: East Side Show Room, where owner Mickie Danae Spencer hand-welded the entire place together to create a gorgeous steampunk temple to local cuisine including bunnies and antelope tartare, and Foreign & Domestic, where the pork belly is served with a pile of toasted oats.
