Southerners and those who want to trick themselves into thinking nice weather is around the bend, take heed: There’s a new Southern restaurant on Court Street in Cobble Hill, and the first Chowhound review is a positive one. Van Horn Sandwich Shop is selling sandwiches like pimento cheese “BLPs”—pimento instead of tomato—and according to lambretta76, “of course it was awesome.”

Look for Southern classics like Brunswick stew, hushpuppies, and mac ’n’ cheese, plus a selection of beers on tap such as Captain Lawrence Liquid Gold (a bit steep at $7, according to the menu published by Eater). It’s not a bad-looking space, and between now and when that backyard garden opens up, we’ll expect lots of reports from hounds about what’s good, what’s bad, and what’s awesome.
