Tres leches cake is simple enough to make, but there are so many artificial-tasting ones out there that Market Hall Bakery’s version is a real find. “It really is incredible,” says bgbc, who bought one recently for a birthday party and notes, “Frozen leftovers are a great alternative to straight-up ice cream, too.”

“Well-saturated but not drippy, dense cake, and frosted with soft, pure whipped cream” is how Melanie Wong describes the cake. “It made me fall in love with tres leches again.”

Cakes are $20-$32, and are also sold by the slice.
