Three local eateries are planning special nights that might be of interest to hounds. The first is January 26 at Grotto, where the staff will serve the same menu as was depicted in Big Night, “from timpano to whole roasted pig,” as Grotto’s website puts it.

yumyum gave it a try last year and came back raving: “The only thing missing last night was the conga line,” said yumyum, who added that the chef came out of the kitchen to present the roast suckling pig and “one of the huge timpanos got a round of applause.” The dinner is $70 with wine and $50 without, and reservations-only.

The other two special events are both Dining in the Dark parties: one January 28 at Sandrine’s, with a chocolate-themed menu, and the other January 30 at Upstairs on the Square. Tickets for each are $55 per person. From the look of the Dining in the Dark site, it appears as if patrons will be seated, and will eat, blindfolded.
