Need an espresso with that external hard drive? J&R, the sprawling electronics emporium near City Hall, can hook you up. The store’s café brewed HLing an unexpectedly fine Americano. The beans were from Danesi and the coffee came in a real cup, she says, “with a nice foam on top and creamy rich taste!”

The Mediterranean-leaning menu includes sandwiches, salads, pizza, and crêpes. Try the splendid croissant, HLing recommends: It’s light, well shaped, and delicately flavored in a way that suggests the presence of cultured sweet cream.

The café, open since summer, is on the mezzanine of J&R’s computer section, overlooking the street-level sales floor. Wi-Fi’s free, naturally.
