Chef Gator Thompson (no longer affiliated with the shuttered Gator’s Back Porch) is bringing his barbecue to The Grill, to the delight of barbecue-lovers on the Peninsula.

It’s good stuff, says alina555. “I was still able to taste the smokiness on my lips an hour later.”

“I had the beef brisket, collard greens, and jambalaya,” chimes in timhu. “All were really tasty and reminded me of how long it has been since I had good BBQ.”

But Nancy Berry wasn’t so keen on the jambalaya, saying it was “mushy and [did] not [have] much flavor.” There seem to be consistency issues here, as Melanie Wong reports getting dry, overcooked pork, chicken, and brisket at lunch during the first week of operation, on a day when Chef Gator was not on site.
