Rod Dee, a well-loved Brookline Thai institution, has a branch in Porter Square that just threw open its doors in December, after months of board slavering. “Confirmed: Thai food has arrived!!!” says chilibaby. “Steady stream of take-out orders coming out of the kitchen tonight (including ours) and a few customers eating in. Diagnosis: Delicious!”
Reports are almost unanimously positive. Red curry, drunken noodles, fish cakes, tom yum, papaya salad, pork larb, and spicy eggplant with tofu are all wonderful; it’s hard to go wrong on the menu. Stride calls a house special of tofu squares topped with minced pork “Subtly savory and delicious.”
The restaurant is cash only and parking can be precarious: The official parking lot is tiny, and the next-door lot at the Star Market center is tow-happy if they catch on that you’re not shopping. Driver beware.
