George, a giant, 20-pound, 140-year-old lobster, will be freed from his temporary holding cell at City Crab and Seafood in New York City and put back into ocean waters off the coast of Maine.

The BBC reports that PETA has successfully petitioned for the “noble old-timer’s” release, saying, “These intriguing animals don’t deserve to be confined to tiny tanks or boiled alive.”

No word yet on whether the remaining collection of intriguing animals at City Crab and Seafood will also attain freedom.
