Duffy’s flips one of Staten Island’s best burgers, but sometimes you have to switch things up. So Flaco was glad to happen upon Lacey’s Bridge Tavern in Elm Park. Its blackened cheeseburger, “less Prudhomme spice than caveman char,” came out pink and juicy. Twice-cooked fries were delicious, if unevenly cooked.

The vibe in the back room is “total time warp,” Flaco adds. And the signature fare—old-school Italian American, family style—has him planning a return visit. “Looking forward to coming back with reinforcements,” he says.
