A couple of years ago, Gourmet came out with a food and music issue, which I thought was a lame concept. It was full of song lyrics about food and what foods relate to different genres of music. It simply seemed contrived, like the editors had run out of ideas for exciting topics. As much as I love both food and music, I wasn’t convinced they had anything in common.
That all changed last week, when it was brought to my attention that someone named heita3 on YouTube had made musical instruments out of vegetables.
Naturally, such genius as performing “Song of Time” from the Legend of Zelda game and Czech polka on a carrot has not gone unnoticed: heita3 is the most subscribed-to musician of all time for YouTube Japan.
