The Brazil Café in Berkeley serves up a juicy tri-tip sandwich with laidback service. This café looks more like a colorful beach shack that landed on University Avenue by mistake.

The tri-tip is served on a flaky soft roll that is then filled with ricotta, avocado, grated carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, and then topped with a creamy cilantro-garlic mayo. Wash it down with one of the açaí or mango smoothies. The Brazil Café on University is outdoors so I suggest going on a nice warm day. There’s also a recently opened second location a block away with indoor seating, so you can get your fix on those colder days.
