Straight-up peanut butter—easy to find in the supermarket; in ice cream, not so much.
Three Twins and Double Rainbow both make delicious peanut butter ice creams, hounds say, but their versions sport chocolate bits. And Tucker’s has chocolate ice cream with peanut butter stripes that’s definitely yummy, says MollyGee.
But peanut brittle sorbet from Scream Sorbet is just incredible, MollyGee adds. “I can’t imagine any peanut butter ice cream being any better than this. It was creamy and rich and so peanutty.” There’s actually nothing “brittle” about it—the ingredients are just peanuts, salt, sugar, and water, and the texture is ultrasmooth.
La Copa Loca also has a very good peanut butter gelato.
And PB&J gets the ice cream treatment at both Bi-Rite and Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous.
