Brits are bracing themselves for a novel culinary event: the debut of a newly developed “lemon melon.” The Telegraph reports:

‘The lemon melon causes a great reaction when people first try them because the last thing you expect from a smooth-textured melon is a tangy aftertaste.’

[Tesco melon buyer Paul Cunningham] added: ‘The lemon melon tastes great chilled as either a starter served with prawns or as a dessert.’

Grown in Spain after 12 years of trials, the as of yet not-wittily-named melon will sell at Tesco grocery stores for £1.99 apiece (about $4).
