A board discussion of where the best marshmallows are found in town turned up some interesting options.

• The homemade marshmallows at Sportello are “big fluffy pillowy squares of squish,” says Buddernut. They have vanilla and chocolate, both are wonderful.

• South End Formaggio sells high-end French marshmallows; they come in various colors.

• Not exactly marshmallows, but look out for Rice Krispies treats made with browned butter at Petsi’s: “It elevates a kiddy snack to a more subtle adult pleasure,” according to fantundo.

Pia speaks up for Walter’s Nougat, which is for sale at the checkout stand at Wilson Farms. “The little bite-sized, individually wrapped pieces in particular share a lot of qualities with marshmallows. They have a wonderful marshmallowy vanilla flavor and the bite-sized ones are soft and fluffy,” says Pia.
