“Heirloom Café is a great addition to the Mission and at times the food soars, but it can also be inconsistent,” says SFDude, adding that “the chef seems to really focus on providing interesting textures as well as flavors.” Like a burrata appetizer with melon, prosciutto, and herbs. In another dish, perfectly roasted salmon is paired with sweet creamed corn. And fluffy gnocchi comes with intensely spicy sausage. Both elements are wonderful, but they compete for attention, SF Dude says.
Nonetheless, Heirloom “reminds me a bit of Frances’ younger, hipper sister,” says tvham. “I’ll definitely be back.”
