Although you can’t find American-style prairie oysters or mountain fries in these parts (at least, nobody has posted about them), testicles can be had in a few Southland restaurants.

El Nido’s double whammy, a Nicaraguan soup of brains and what they delicately translate as “bull’s eggs” (sopa de sesos con creadilla de toro), is some tasty stuff, says trojans, with an excellent broth.

The standout Middle Eastern restaurant Alcazar offers Lebanese-style lamb fries (beyd ghanam), sautéed in a zesty lemon sauce with pine nuts and sumac. No word on how they taste, but Tezzz recommends the chicken shawarma with Zankou-esque garlic paste as a fallback plan.

Macau Street Restaurant also does testicles, Chinese style, says ipsedixit.

Want to make your own? Try Vallarta Supermarket or Hawaii Supermarket. trojans usually skewers and grills them, while risottoman recommends pan-frying them in olive oil with garlic, onions, white wine, and parsley.

Incidentally, Eddie Lin’s Deep End Dining blog is a great source for extreme eating experiences, even if you’re just a voyeur.
