For Mother’s Day I wanted to donate to a cause my mom could get behind. She’s an avid gardener and loves bees, so I was hoping to find a charity working toward saving the little guys. After searching on Google, I found what I was looking for: The UC Davis Honeybee Research Fund helps support the Harry H. Laidlaw Jr. Honey Bee Research Facility, one of the largest of its kind in North America. The staff investigates the possibility of sustainable pollination, while also examining the disappearance of bee colonies. The Research Fund doesn’t have anything fancy set up to send a gift card or the like, but I printed out the confirmation of my donation and stuffed it into my own card. Mom loved it.
