Old Chub, a canned Scottish-style ale from Colorado brewer Oskar Blues, is a fine beer indeed, says TongoRad. At 8 percent alcohol, it is “dangerously smooth, with a great smoked and chocolate malt finish,” says TongoRad. It’s delicious, agrees Pat Hammond, with a pleasantly syrupy quality that makes it a dessertlike drink: “I could imagine it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it.” However, it shouldn’t be served too cold, Pat continues. And if you can find it on tap, Chinon00 says, it is smoky in flavor and not as thick and cloying as it is from the can.
