Trattoria Trecolori, a hound refuge in the chow-challenged Theater District, has closed its doors and is about to move. Known for comforting (if not mind-blowing) home-style Italian, it plans to reopen in September in roomier digs a few blocks away.

In the East Village, Caracas Arepa Bar has expanded into the adjacent storefront, to the delight of corn cake lovers tired of cramming into its once-tiny space. “Bring on the arepas de pabellon!” exults rose water, name-checking a fan favorite (stuffed with beef, black beans, plantain, and cheese). Caracas displaces a Thai restaurant called Pat Pong, which has moved a few blocks north.

And Polka Dot Cake Studio, praised for its Bleecker Street Blackout and lemon-raspberry cakes, among other creations, has cleared out of its Village shop. But stay tuned–its website remains up and its phone isn’t disconnected, so it could re-emerge elsewhere.
