HLing thinks that the new batch of the top-grade Taiwanese Alishan oolong, available from Luh Yu Tea Emporium in Flushing, New York, is special—and it’s also very fresh right now. “This batch somehow can withstand countless steeping if you get that first temperature right,” says HLing, which means not scalding hot. Luh Yu doesn’t do everything well, and its selection isn’t huge, but this top-grade Alishan makes HLing think there might be some hope in Taiwanese tea yet.
