New York magazine reports that—for a limited time only—the Burger King himself is enshrined at Madame Tussauds wax museum in Times Square. Waxen likenesses of RuPaul and Freddie Krueger have a permanent home in this tourist trap attraction, but the King will only reside there until February ’08. (Apparently, Burger King footed the bill for the creation of this wax figure, so perhaps when his time runs out, the chain’ll be taking him back rather than melting him down.) The waxen King was unveiled by local radio DJ Ed Lover, who introduced the statue with an alternate version of Run-D.M.C.’s “King of Rock.”

He’s the king of burgers! There is none higher!
Even McDonald’s must call him sire!
Flame-broiled goodness beats a fryer!
He’ll keep cooking, and not ever retire!

And in case you were wondering, no, the King isn’t the first food personality to grace the halls of Madame Tussauds. Rachael Ray, “with her famous and infectious smile … wearing a red wrap dress, brown tank top, horseshoe diamond necklace and tall Farylrobin brown boots,” was immortalized in February of this year.
