Whenever I try anything vegan, I think, “This is good, for being vegan.” It’s not that I’m opposed to the animal-free lifestyle; vegan food can be divine. But often substitutes for my favorite recipes just taste too, well, vegan. Recently I tried Liz Lovely cookies. “Hmm, dairy-and-egg-free cookies from Vermont,” I thought. “Maybe they’ll be good, for vegan cookies.” But these aren’t just good for vegan cookies; they’re great among all cookies, especially the Ginger Snapdragons, whose perfect chewy texture and punchy dose of ginger made me doubt they were vegan at all!
