If you love Peeps so much that you wish you could drink them, we have some some good news for you—at least, if you’re near Manchester, N.Y., home of Reinvention Brewing. In collaboration with K2 Bros. Brewing, they’re releasing an Easter beer brewed with Peeps!

It’s a milkshake IPA brewed with lactose for a creamy mouthfeel, plus the addition of marshmallows (some of the regular s’mores variety, plus 1,000 Peeps) for that seasonal flair. They describe the resulting “Peepshow IPA” as sweet, fruity, and delicious.

Last year, the folks at the Collective Brewing Project in Fort Worth, Texas also concocted a beer made out of the perennial chick-shaped marshmallow candies. Theirs was cheekily titled too (“Peep This Collab”) but was a sour ale, flavored with Peeps, vanilla, and butterfly pea flower, which lent the beverage a purple color. To make the drink even more gorgeous, edible glitter was added once the beer was fermented, just to add an extra sparkle.

According to an interview with the Dallas Morning News’ Guide Live, Collective’s Head Brewer and Founder Ryan Deyo had this to say about the origin of the beer: “Several of us were just sitting around the brewery talking about how beer has become this super serious thing. I’ve been on a kick to assert beer should be a fun thing. We make a beer with ramen noodles, so Peeps isn’t really a stretch.”

Yes, they really made a beer with ramen noodles. If you ask us, Peeps is a major upgrade! Who wants a dorm room staple mixed with their alcohol? Hard pass. Marshmallow makes way more sense.

Whether New York’s Reinvention Brewing was inspired by Collective’s experiment last year or just swept up in the seasonal deluge of Easter candy, we can’t say—but Peeps beer sounds like a great Easter basket filler for adults.

Unfortunately, as with last year’s Texas brew, this 2019 Peeps beer will only be available in the regional area for a limited time. There are (probably) other Peeps beers out there, though!

As proof, while it didn’t take the internet by storm in the same way that “Peep This Collab” did, Peaster Biere—a Biere de Garde brewed with Peeps—was released in 2017. And while we’re not sure if it’s brewed with name-brand marshmallow treats or not, Angry Chair’s Purple Puffs certainly evokes the classic chick-shaped snacks. So look around at your local breweries‘ tap lists and maybe you’ll find an unexpected Easter treat.

But we have a feeling something this trendy and adorable won’t stay small-scale for long. It’s only a matter of time before a national brand gets on this, for better or for worse. Peepstone Light, anyone?
