Pastry chef Dominique Ansel is known for his over-the-top food creations. He is the man responsible for the Cronut, after all. His latest treat is the “Huevocado,” a chocolate egg that’s molded to look just an avocado. (Just in case Cadbury wasn’t good enough for you this Easter season.)
According to the bakery’s website, the confection is “made with rich chocolate and filled with mini white chocolate truffle eggs inside.” That’s right, there’s no actual avocado to be found in it. Edible dyeing agents are what provides the chocolate’s green color, not the fruit itself.
It’s still a perfect treat for the avocado-obsessed person in your life. The best part is they probably won’t injure themselves while slicing it up. And they can also still spread it on toast, proving its just as versatile as the fruit it so aptly mimics.
If you’d like to get your hands on this deceptive dessert, you’ll need to trek out to Los Angeles. The Huevocado will only be available at Dominique Ansel LA from March 23 to April 1. They’ll also cost a whopping $22 bucks. To make matters more difficult, the bakery refuses to ship these products, because they’re oh so fragile. No one wants cracked eggs, after all!
