While it may seem hard to believe, spring is officially here again! Whether it feels like it where you are or not, the calendar says so. We are more ready than ever to jump into a new season, one hopefully full of sunshine and ice cream—which you can get for free at Dairy Queen today!
Yes, in honor of the vernal equinox, some of our favorite fast food chains are here to help out with our ice cream dreams. They might not have control over the weather, but at least they can provide dessert! So here’s where we’re heading after work.
Dairy Queen is giving out free vanilla soft serve cones. It’s part of the chain’s fifth annual Free Cone Day. Cones are limited to one per customer and only available while supplies last (also, you can’t hit up a mall-based Dairy Queen, as they’re excluded—so is Canada). Even though these treats won’t cost you a cent, you’ll probably want to bring along some cash anyway. DQ will be collecting donations for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. According to a news release, they’ve raised over 130 million dollars for the organization over the past 34 years and hope to keep the partnership going strong.
Use Dairy Queen’s map to find the location closest to you. And if you miss out (or are just hungry for more great deals), from March 21-31, you’ll be able to get a small regular or dipped soft serve cone for 50 cents at participating locations; you’ll just need the DQ mobile app to redeem the offer.
Rita’s Italian Ice
If you’re craving something a little slushier to chase away your winter blues and are lucky enough to live near a Rita’s Italian Ice, head there. Continuing a tradition that’s lasted over twenty years, the chain is giving out free Italian Ices on March 20. Just arrive between the hours of noon and 9 p.m. Last year they gave out over a million cups in nine hours!
Ben and Jerry’s
They do NOT give out free cones on the first day of spring, but they DO hand out free ice cream on April 9, which isn’t too far away—so mark your calendars now.
