If you thought the bacon trend was long dead, you're no Miss Cleo (or maybe you are, because she wasn't exactly known for her talents in clairvoyance). Specialty food store Zingerman's, located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, will be hosting the adult summer camp that dreams are made of: Camp Bacon.
Featuring five days' worth of bacon tasting, cooking, partying, restaurant tours, and even a Bacon Ball (can we rock Lady Gaga's infamous meat dress?), the culinary extravaganza is set to be the first of its kind.
"We love to taste the bacon and don't get us wrong, you will leave having tasted a lot of bacon, but we are there to share the story behind the bacon," the website states. "We share with you new ways to appreciate bacon and talk about how what we feed the animal impacts the flavor of the meat you are eating." Delicious and educational? It certainly seems like they're on to something special.
The camp's motto is "bacon for the brain, belly, and soul," which sounds pretty appropriate considering this jam-packed schedule of all things salty fried pork (movie night, a street fair, live music, etc.). And while we'd absolutely recommend nabbing your tickets ASAP, most of the camp's individual events will be open to the public with proceeds benefitting local 4-H clubs.
Now this is the charitable cause we want to throw our money behind. In fact, we can already smell the grease on our fingers.
Click here to get your tickets. If the event is a success, can you imagine next year's possibilities? French Fry Camp, Doughnut Camp, Fried Chicken Camp...just stop us while we're ahead.
(While the week doesn't kick off until May 31, we've got 38 delicious bacon recipes to hold you over until summer. Click through and get excited!)
