Tisha Cherry has given all of us a reason to play with food again, thanks to her hashtag #ArtintheEats. On her Instagram you’ll find sly pop-culture references and puns made from different foods. The attention to detail is remarkable. In one photo, Cherry has “painted” a portrait of Snoop Dogg from the juices of a xiao long bao, like a watercolor that composed itself from a leaky dumpling.

A Banksy monkey is formed out of crumbs from an overbaked cookie.

Wu-Tang’s ODB is soy sauce from a Chinese takeout packet. The caption: “Ol’ Dirty Chinese Restaurant.”

And Questlove’s remarkable Afro looks even more striking after Cherry renders it in melon rind.

These certainly aren’t your run-of-the-mill, ants-on-a-log type of food creations. First We Feast reported that Tisha’s work also appeared in the publication Frank151 for a 20th-anniversary tribute to Nas’s Illmatic, appropriately named Chillmatic.
