There’s nothing better than a breakfast of pancakes and bacon … that is, except for bacon pancakes.

In a discussion about how to spice up pancake mixes, Chowhounds Novelli and viperlush suggest two methods for combining bacon and batter to make a sweet and salty breakfast treat.

Ladle batter into a skillet, then sprinkle on chopped bacon. This allows for even distribution and lots of bacon bits cooked inside the pancake.

Dip whole slices of crisp, cooked bacon into pancake batter, then cook in the skillet—viperlush calls these “bacon cakes.” What’s good about these: a high bacon-to-batter ratio.
