A recent stroll through Valley Village near North Hollywood brought Chowhound Hypnotic23 to Harvest Moon Kitchen and Marketplace, a bakery and café that’s been bustling ever since it opened in October. That’s no surprise, given that Christine Drapkin, previously at Saddle Peak Lodge, is the chef and owner. Drapkin has come up with great seasonal menus—egg and pancake dishes in the morning, sandwiches and salads at lunch—that help keep the vibe casual and cool.

You order at the counter, then take a seat inside or on the large outdoor patio. Both the veggie panino on ciabatta and the steak sandwich on French bread get hound approval. Sunday brunch has Meyer lemon–ricotta pancakes, almond-granola-pumpkin pancakes, and brioche French toast. And, TinyLibrarian says, a side of sweet and spicy bacon is a must.
